Dear Mothers' Milk Bank Community: We need your help!

April 1, 2016

We find ourselves at a critical place in the advancement of the bill SB1316, in California to achieve more transparent and equitable policies around donor human milk.

We are turning to you, our donors and supporters to make your voices heard.

If this innovative and fair legislation passes, it will put infants' rights to human milk at the forefront of public policy. It will plant a flag in the ground for making sure commercial forces do not disrupt the supply of human milk for critically fragile babies, address health equity issues faced by babies born pre-term/ low birth weight and medically fragile and significantly level the playing field to advance equitable access to HMBANA member milk banks, pasteurized donor human milk.

This legislation does not restrict peer to peer milk sharing, selling or buying at any time.

Women can still choose to sell milk to companies that pay for it, but not milk expressed before 180 days.

This bill levels the playing field and puts the babies right to the milk front and center.

We need you to call Senator Holly Mitchell and ask her to support SB 1316. Ideally today, March 31 and April 1.

If you are in Sacramento come to the hearing in Sacramento, April 6 @ 1:00 and stand up for community based non-profit trusted human milk banking for babies.
